Cronkite on the Election of 1964

I just heard an extraordinary report by Walter Cronkite about the election of 1964 and the loss of the south from the Democratic Party (which he links back to FDR's challenge to Southern Dems in 1938. Go listen to Walter Cronkite on the Landslide Election of 1964

The blog' purpose should be to open students to different subjects and what be of benefit to them in their research project.It should have a life of its own. It should not take a substantial part of the class because learning how to evaluate and critique sources can take up most of the course. This is anonymous only to meet one of the assignments' criteria.

Was it the stupidity or the courage of the Democratic Party that they would no longer accept the Jim Crow/Lost Cause ideology of the South as part of the modern Democratic Party?
